Applications with foreign qualifications

For students who have obtained their Master's degree in physics, medical physics or another physics-related degree program at a university abroad, a preliminary examination can be carried out by the International Office. This preliminary check must be carried out by the prospective supervisor by sending the following documents as a pdf to the admission email address (admission.inquiriestu-dortmundde) (list in English):
- Transcripts of records including all grades taken during the entire degree program issued in the language of your country along with a translation (in German or English)
- Certificates for the earned degrees issued in the language of your country along with a translation (in German or English)
- Explanations of the grading scheme of the university attended (in German or English)
- Additionally for applicants from Pakistan: HEC Attestation Stamp on the Transcript of records and Graduation Degree
IMPORTANT: The result of the preliminary examination will be sent to the supervisor. The supervisor must forward this email to the email address of the Graduate School. As a candidate, please make sure that this is done by contacting your supervisor.
IMPORTANT2: Please also think directly of a copy of your university entrance qualification (with official translation). This is not required at this stage, but is needed for enrollment. This will help to avoid unnecessary waiting times.

After the preliminary examination, the usual application documents must be submitted, but also the
- completed and signed AB form
Send the completed documents together with the AB form to the email address of the Graduate School.
Note:
The examination by the doctoral committee can only take place after all documents have been submitted in full. Please also refer to the notes on registration. Due to the separate examination, a longer processing time is to be expected.

After registration, you will receive a positive notification by email. Please also note the International Office's information on enrollment.
