A lecture by Thomas Kronschläger on gender-equitable language

The promotion of gender equity is of great importance in our society and is also intensively discussed at our university. The Dortmund Graduate School of Physics has set itself the goal of actively working to promote gender diversity and equal opportunities. For our members, there will be a diversity course that raises awareness of the challenges in this area and offers practical recommendations for action for respectful interaction.

We are also pleased to announce that we have secured a distinguished speaker from German Studies for our first General Assembly on October 31, 2023. Thomas Kronschläger from the Technical University of Braunschweig is a renowned researcher at the Institute for German Studies in the Department of Didactics of German Language and Literature. His research interests include gender and queer theory in literature teaching. His work is excellently published and he regularly gives lectures on gender-appropriate language. At the Science Slam Bonn he was able to inspire the audience with his presentation "Entgendern nach Phettberg" and won first place.

Thomas Kronschläger's lecture entitled "Language and gender - between scientific discussion and social practice" will take place on Oct. 31, 2023, starting at 4:30 p.m. in Lecture Hall II as part of the Physics Colloquium. The lecture will be given in German. All interested people are cordially invited to attend this event and learn more about this important topic.
