From physics to research funding
- Careers-in-Physics
In this presentation, I will introduce my job as a technology consultant for research funding in the field of nuclear fusion at the VDI Technology Center in Düsseldorf. After a brief personal introduction, I will first give a general overview of project-based research funding in Germany and in particular the role of project sponsors such as the VDI Technology Center.
After a brief introduction to the company, I will then go into more detail about my work. I focus in particular on why the job is exciting for physicists and how I benefit from my specialist background in my day-to-day work.
Last but not least, I give a brief status update on nuclear fusion research. I will focus in particular on current developments and future prospects.
