Location & approach

Arrival by car

The campus of the Technical University of Dortmund is located near the Dortmund West interchange, where the A45 Sauerland line crosses the B1/A40 Ruhr expressway. The Dortmund-Eichlinghofen exit on the A45 leads to the South Campus, the Dortmund-Dorstfeld and Dortmund-Barop exits on the A40 to the North Campus. The university is signposted at all exits. Navigation systems should find the address Otto-Hahn-Str. 4. There is a large parking lot there.

Arrival by bus and train

The "Dortmund Universität" S-Bahn station is located directly on the North Campus. From there, the S-Bahn line S1 runs every 20 or 30 minutes to Dortmund central station and in the opposite direction to Solingen via Bochum, Essen, Duisburg and Düsseldorf. In addition, the university can be reached by bus lines 445, 447 and 462. Timetable information can be found on the homepage of the Rhine-Ruhr transport association, and the DSW21 transport company also offers an interactive route network map. The H-Bahn

One of the landmarks of the TU Dortmund is the H-Bahn. Line 1 runs every 10 minutes between Dortmund Eichlinghofen and the Technology Center via Campus South and Dortmund University S, while Line 2 commutes every 5 minutes between Campus North and Campus South. It covers this distance in two minutes.

Arrival by plane

From Dortmund Airport, the AirportExpress takes just over 20 minutes to Dortmund's main train station, and from there, the S-Bahn takes you to the university. A wider range of international flight connections is offered by Düsseldorf Airport, about 60 kilometers away, which can be reached directly by S-Bahn from the university's train station.

Marcel Golz, Stefan Bissmann and Felix Huerkamp present d-fine in the seminar "Careers in Physics"

d-fine is a continuously growing European consulting company with over 1,000 employees. We are close to our customers with eleven locations in seven countries. Our projects focus on quantitative issues around data analytics, data science, modeling and the development of sustainable technological solutions. Our consulting approach is based on many years of practical experience and dynamic teams with a clear analytical and technological focus. In the "Careers in Physics" seminar, Stefan Bißmann and Marcel Golz (alumni of AG Hiller) report on their career start at d-fine. They give insights into the transition from the university environment to the business world and explain how they can use their experience from their studies and doctorate in particle physics in banks and insurance companies. In doing so, you will point out similarities between doctoral studies and working as a consultant and the new challenges you will face with the skills you have learned. Felix Huerkamp will also give an overview of entry and career opportunities at d-fine.
